Idlib Museum, situated in northwestern Syria, preserves archaeological material from a region exceptionally rich in ancient settlements and cultural heritage. The museum is particularly important for its connection with Ebla (Tell Mardikh), one of the great kingdoms of Bronze Age Syria, as well as numerous other archaeological sites throughout Idlib and the surrounding region. Its collections include cuneiform tablets, pottery, sculptures, figurines, seals, jewellery, coins, inscriptions, mosaics, and architectural fragments spanning many periods of Syrian history. Material associated with Ebla is of particular significance, reflecting the kingdom’s sophisticated administration, writing traditions, international diplomacy, trade, and cultural life. The museum provides an important link between the archaeological discoveries of northwestern Syria and the communities whose history they preserve.
