The National Museum of Aleppo preserves an important collection illustrating the archaeology and cultural history of northern Syria and the wider ancient Near East. Its collections include sculptures, cuneiform tablets, seals, ceramics, jewellery, weapons, inscriptions, and other objects discovered at major archaeological sites across the region. Particularly significant are artefacts associated with Bronze and Iron Age centres such as Ebla, Mari, Tell Brak, and Tell Halaf, reflecting the development of early cities, kingdoms, writing, religion, trade, and artistic traditions in ancient Syria. The museum is especially recognised for its monumental entrance, which incorporates imposing basalt sculptures inspired by those discovered at Tell Halaf, creating a striking connection between the museum and the archaeological heritage it preserves.
